The Hobo Homo.

Hello and welcome to my humble blog. For those of you who haven't known me since I was yay high with a bad haircut and stumbling my way through my Steiner education, my name is Kash. For the past two years I have been wandering my way around the globe, from a 30000km round trip of Australia to hitching my way with mad roadtrips from Greece to The Netherlands in just a few days. As I write this I am sitting in a Swedish coffee shop in Malmo after hitching with my sister from the west of France, facing battles with human faeces next to the Eiffel tour, meeting beautiful people from across the continent and watching sunsets that could rival that of western Australia as we camp up for a night under the shooting stars of northern Germany. Safe to say Its not all sunsets and shooting stars but I do have my adventures. So welcome to my travel blog, however here is the twist. I came out as gay when I was 16 and pretty shortly after I came to realise just how queer I am. I have faced the 'are you a boy or a girl' question for as long as I can remember (it really was a bad haircut) and for as much as I could, I never gave a straight and honest answer (my younger self liked to shrug off the societal norm and spread confusion in the masses as well). Really what happened when I came out is I was introduced to this beautiful community of human beings who were willing to accept whatever version of myself I felt truly represented who I am and suddenly the world opened up. I stopped labelling myself as any gender and now I let you guys do that for me, I do me, you do you. Thing is the world isn't all that simple for folks like myself, from hilarious escapades of navigating airports where security can't decide the right gender should feel you up to not so hilarious moments of facing the constant questioning when you just want to go to the toilet or the 'you millennials' speech when trying to stick up for gender non conforming people. See, I have it simple. I was born in the UK, surround myself with beautiful people and have a wonderful family. For many others out there they are not as lucky as myself and this has become more and more clear throughout my travels from the 'east west divide' to general ignorance even in my own country. The LGBTQ+ community has faced violence and discrimination since the bible got published back in the day and although we can see just how far we have come it is still not far enough. I look at the LGBTQ+ community from the past and and present and thank them for the life I can live and the freedom to love who I love. So now its my turn to add my crazy existence into history. I hope I can keep you entertained on my journeys throughout the world with tales and info of which bridges you can sleep under safely, mountains to hang a hammock and where not to stand on the motorway otherwise the police will get you. But at the same time I hope you will join me as I meet the community from around the world and share their stories, their lives, escapades and adventures. Raise awareness, spread acceptance and spread the love. Here is my travel blog with a twist, I hope you will join me for the trip.
